Blog from: Joei & Me
I first heard of Mama Lou‘s Italian Kitchen during my friend Ivy’s baby shower (read my blog post about Fred & Ivy’s wedding) and have heard nothing but good reviews about it ever since. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to go to the party because of work so I wasn’t able to try their food. So when T and I were Nuvali in Sta Rosa and saw that there was a Mama Lou’s branch there, we immediately went inside.
It was a little before dinner time when we got there and saw that there were many vacant tables. But only 10 minutes after sitting down, the place became packed!

I particularly love how the place looks. It probably wouldn’t beat the homey atmosphere of Mama Lou’s BF Homes since it’s a house converted into a restaurant. But the kitchen in Nuvali makes up for it being in a commercial space!

Our server first gave us 5 thin pieces of bread. I wasn’t used to an almost bare bread basket but T and I were really looking forward to the main dishes and didn’t mind this at all.

I ordered a Pineapple Shake instead of my usual Coke Zero.

There were so many good dishes in their menu. T and I couldn’t decide!

I ordered the Prawns Thermidor (P695/$15), simmered prawns in spring onion and brandy topped with creamy sauce. The usual problem with this dish is that the sauce is overpowering. But Mama Lou’s version is A-ok!

T ordered the Marbled Rib Eye Steak (P695/$15) imported from Australia and is described to have exceptional tenderness. The steak wasn’t that big but it was really tender and flavorful. T and I both loved it.

We also ordered Risotto Tartufo Funghi (P325/$7) with wild mushrooms and truffle cream. Oh my. No words can describe. This is good!

T and I ended up sharing everything and the combination of the steak, prawns and risotto was purrrrfect! I’d recommend the same if you’re on a date 🙂
Thumbs Up T said the food exceeded his expectations. Reasonable prices.
Thumbs Down Nothing really.
Verdict T and I will definitely dine here again! But we’ll probably pay a visit to Mama Lou’s BF Homes first 🙂
